Comments: This is a very interesting coin and reminds us of a tarnished piece of silverware that was left too long without polishing. The color in the center of the coin appears to be dirty, but it is more likely light coloring of a terminal state.
There is no black or dark gray color until a coin enters the final stages of toning, so this is why we believe this coin is just about there. The difference is that the layering of the color is not as thick and does not produce the really dark color present at the rim. Given a little more time this coin would probably become black. Reinforcing all this discussion is the coin's reverse which lacks color except for the gray and black.
The bluish color between the device and rim is likely a thin film of deep blue and purple.
