Comments: Like many toned coins the reagent and contact are fun to speculate about, but difficult to discern. Obviously only the obverse was exposed, but how. There is a stripe that runs from about 10 o'clock down to the bottom of the hair. This stripe actually looks like something covered the coin and shielded it from exposure in that area.
There is a little more variation in the colors than it might first appear. This coin is in the second cycle of toning with sunset yellows toward the rim. Around the cheek it is more russet or burgundy which would still be in the late first cycle.
Not a gorgeous coin, but interesting.
