Comments:  When you remove the toning from this coin the grade looks about right to us.  There are some bag marks on the device and in the fields, and in enough quantity they start to add up.

VAM 26A is easily identified because of the unique clash above the Eagle's head.  In this case the toning actually helps the clashes stand out and makes them a little easier to identify.

The color on this coin is early even though dark.  There seems to be russet, amber, and cobalt blue.  The reverse is predominately cobalt blue, so in about the same place with toning progression.

There also seems to be no logic to the color pattern, like overlapping coins or end roll marks.  We believe this is moisture damage, which at the New Orleans Mint was frequent.
