Die/VAM Matrix
VAM 41 - Doubled 1, Tripled Left Wreath, Doubled Legend is a pairing of Obverse Die 7 with Reverse Die p. Reverse Die p is used in VAM pairings 15, 41, 51 and 71. Obverse Die 7 is only used with VAMs 15 and 41. As of May 2021 we have nine examples of VAM 41 for examination. These range from Extra Fine 45 to MS 64 and include one toned coin.
None of our examples show any die cracks, and with so much material to examine in the mint state area we feel confident that the dies did not fail. This is they type pairing that would drive me crazy as a new VAMer. The description of the Obverse Die 7 is correct and this die has the doubled right 1. But it is obvious when you compare the physical dies those are not the same doubled 1.
Die cracks are shown in green and die breaks in red. Click on any image for a larger view.
