Comments:  This coin is not in our toned coins area because we consider this to be more dirt and water damage than color.  To figure out the grade dropping out the color helps, and when you look at the image below you will see that most of the abrasions are superficial except over the eye.  The reverse is better and of course easier to read.

 

VAM 40 is most easily recognized by the ear doubling inside the ear because a number of VAMs in the series have the doubled earlobe.
