VAM:  37 - Doubled Reverse Legend & Motto

Comments:  VAM 37 is distinguished from its partners by a lack of clashing.  The legend and motto doubling are easily read.  VAM 37 is not rare and this coin was our eighth example when acquired.

 

We went back and forth on this coin and whether or not to include it in our toned coins group.  But in the end it is somewhat monochromatic and with the exception of some textile impressions on the obverse it is not of much interest from an educational perspective.

 

The grade seems right since there are few abrasions on either side and the coin seems well struck.  A solid MS 64 but no more and it loses some on eye appeal.
