Comments:  The reverse of this coin looks very much like an AU 58, but the obverse seems to us to show more wear.  We might have called it an AU 55 or certainly on the low end of the AU 58 grade.

Not mentioned in the description of this VAM is the considerable amount of clashing on the obverse.  There are clear clash marks at the neck, chin, back of the hair, and the Eagle's right wing.

The date doubling on this VAM is easily read, especially the doubling on the last one which shows at the top of the flag and as a notch on the right side of the vertical shaft.  But there is additional doubling on the date that is not used as a descriptor.

VAM 4 is not rare and we have many examples in both circulated and mint state.
