Comments:  We think this coin is well placed at AU 58 and that the obverse clearly shows that it cannot be any more than that.  But then that leads us to the reverse.  There is a raging debate among collectors who either like or dislike toned coins.  But for us this coin clearly shows that there is toning that is not maliciously introduced.  There is no reason to go to the effort to tone an AU 58 coin in this series as it would not enhance the value of the coin more than a few dollars.

VAM 26A has a lot going on with clashing at the Eagle's right wing, and Liberty's neck, chin, back of the hair, and the "us."  All are identifiable on this coin and it proves to be a good example of this VAM at an affordable price point.
