Comments:  When we get a discovery VAM it is nice to find more than one for a number of reasons.  But finding common traits is key to identification and die state over time.  This coin is our third example of VAM 688 and there are a number of additional features that help with identification.

In addition to the features in the title of the VAM, there is a distinctive die crack running through the date and another running through the bow just above the mint mark.  In all three of our examples the severity of the cracks seems to be consistent.

This coin is right for the grade with several small bag marks and abrasions, but nothing that really detracts from the overall appearance.  The two sides also appear to be about the same, so we rate neither as superior.  This is a good coin at a reasonable price and grade for VAM study.
