VAMs With Full Curls
We are defining hair with full curls as those where the curls continue to terminate in a point. This trait is difficult to pin down because we assume a die must be in an early state to qualify. The longer a die was used and possibly re-polished to extend its life, the less likely this state will be preserved. This observation is reinforced by the preservation of other features on these coins.
There are a large number of examples where there is a small remaining portion of the hair beyond the curl. This often appears as a chip or small gouge. We did not include these in this section.
